'Sometimes you're hot ... Sometimes you're not'

Casey Eliminated: The Hi De Ho Flop

After preening around the stage like he thought all the applause was for him personally, Ryan Seacrest announced that the results were going to disappoint a lot of fans. This after much speculation that Lauren Alaina might go home because tornadoes in her hometown made it impossible for her friends and relatives to watch the show and vote. But a lot of people were leaving comments around the net that they hope she goes home so it can’t be her, can it! It will be disappointing for another girl to go home, so let’s hope it’s not Haley Reinhart! A ticket home for Scotty McCreery would cause a big uproar too. James Durbin? Don’t even think it!

The Top 6 went to a party to help celebrate the Royal Wedding, then they sang a lame medley of some more Carole King songs, which included Scotty singing “Go Away, Little Girl,” surrounded by a bunch of little girls. Barf! That was a number one hit twice: for Steve Lawrence in 1962 and for Donny Osmond in 1971. In between, the Happenings took it to No. 12 in 1966.

The medley was followed by a much less annoying “My House” Ford commercial, and a Crystal Bowersox performance.

They got to the results after a Q&A sesson, and Haley was up first. Jimmy Iovine was shown saying he fully agrees with Jennifer that Haley has one of the best voices in the competition, but if she goes home, it will be because she still doesn’t know who she is. “Haley,” Ryan said, “I can tell you what kind of contestant you are, and that is — safe!!” Yay!

Scotty McCreery came next and Jimmy Iovine said Scotty has a subtlety that is magnificent but it can get lost in this particular environment, so Jimmy thinks that he could be in jeopardy. Ryan sent him to take a seat without saying whether he was safe or not.

Iovine critiqued Lauren next, noting that Lauren tends to only hear the critical side of a review but he believes Lauren is there for the long haul. She also wasn’t given a thumbs up or down.

Casey will go on to be a great singer and songwriter, Jimmy Iovine said, but “Casey has to realize that the family dog does not vote.” LOL. He predicts that Casey is safe anyhow.

Seacrest continues with this travesty with James. Jimmy Iovine finds James much more believable with rock songs than heavy metal, and if James sticks to rock melodies, Iovine has no doubt he can win. Ryan switches up his tactics and sends James to safety. Like we had any doubt! Hah!

Jimmy Iovine thought Jacob went into the wrong dressing room for his performance and didn’t pick an outfit that would be part of “the whole package.” Iovine said he’s on “banana peel status.”

Lauren was then told she was safe. Another guy is going home.

Ho ho ho. Scotty McCreery is in the bottom 3 with Casey and Jacob. We haven’t gotten 100% on our bottom 3 predictions for a couple of weeks, but we nailed this one. It’s the first time for Scotty, the second time for Casey and the third time for Jacob. We’re here to tell ya that Jacob leaving would not be that big of a shock to anyone but …

according to Ryan, these are random and not an official bottom 3. Well, that’s his story. They were officially the bottom three as far as we’re concerned. And surprise … Jacob was sent to safety first even if Jimmy Iovine was hating on his jacket.

Hi De Ho. Casey got the lowest votes and chooses to sing “I Put A Spell On You.” He ran all around singing directly to and kissing audience members, judges and idols, but he finished up by only crooning to Haley: “because you’re mine!”

Casey Abrams finishes as the 6th place finalist in Season 10 but, as Ryan reminded us, he will be on the Top 11 American Idol Tour this summer. Tickets go on sale May 13th.

What can we say? We would have told Casey not to mess with no David Clayton Thomas songs, but would he have listened to us if he wouldn’t listen to Jimmy Iovine?

A lot of folks have felt that Casey wasn’t “in it to win it.” He didn’t care if he won or not, many mused. And that makes it all the more stupid that he even signed up and that he got the one-time season save. He took someone else’s spot who might really have tried a little harder and made a serious attempt to play the Idol game.
