We wouldn’t be surprised if any of these Season 10 American Idols ended up in the Bottom Three tonight after their performances in Elton John Week.
Not that they were bad, a lot of them were good and passed the “radio test.” We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: there’s gonna be a Bottom Three. Only this time, two of them are getting the boot since Casey Abrams was saved last week. Will Casey be safe this week? Let’s check it out:
Casey demonstrated that he was willing to conform to stay in the contest. He got his beard trimmed and shaggy hairdo under control and stayed away from wildman stuff with “Your Song.” We wouldn’t turn the radio off on it, but probably only because we’re too lazy to get up. So we wouldn’t be surprised if he falls in the bottom three and can’t get saved at all.
Thia Megia definitely passed the radio test with “Daniel.” Beautiful to listen to. Not so great to watch. Thia is the only one we’d give a definite nod to for the Bottom Three. Does she deserve it? Who knows? All we know is she’s outta there pretty soon.
Naima Adedapo didn’t get much in the way of approval from anyone but Steven Tyler, which is meaningless. Boom-shaka-laka-laka. But her reggae take on “I’m Still Standing” was pleasant to listen to without looking. Naima was stylish and just has a good figure for whatever she wears, so looking at her was also a thumbs up. Her voice just can’t be called very strong or outstanding in this season, so like Thia, she can expect to be seeing the exit sign soon.
Paul McDonald’s “Rocket Man” pretty much sucked and, lazy as we are, we would get up and turn that off if no one answered our call for help. Could Paul be in the Bottom Three. Yeah.
Randy Jackson called Haley Reinhart’s performance of “Benny and the Jets” the best performance of the evening? Really? BENNIE, BENNIE, BENNIE, b-b-b- BENNIE. With your eyes closed, it just sounded NUTS! Like she was drowning and Bennie was the only one around. But if the judges’ endorsement has any power, maybe she’ll stick around.
REAL TOP PICKS THIS WEEK: JAMES, JACOB, LAUREN AND PIA
Stefano Langone sounded very sweet with the radio test, and looked like he was doing a good job when we opened our eyes. Good for Stefano for doing the same thing. Keeping his eyes open and connecting with his audience, even if Jennifer Lopez mispronounced his name.
A country song, grandma love and Scotty McCreery – a surefire recipe for group love from the American Idol judges. But with our eyes closed, it’s just run-of-the-mill sentimental country music and not even close to the country music we like. Turn that &&*(&$$@@@* off!
In conclusion, we will only go out on a limb to the extent of saying Thia and Naima seem like sure bottom three bets, but as we saw last week, anything can happen!
