Bobby Vee Turns 72

1960s teen idol, Bobby Vee, is celebrating his 72nd birthday today. Vee had a string of Top 10 hits from 1960 to 1967 that included “Devil or Angel” (No. 6) and “Rubber Ball” (No. 6) in 1960; “Take Good Care of My Baby” (No. 1) and “Run to Him (No. 2) in 1961; “The Night Has a Thousand Eyes” (No. 3) in 1962; and “Come Back When You Grow Up” (No. 3) in 1967.

The singer announced his retirement from the music industry in 2012 after being diagnosed with the early stages of Alzheimer’s Disease. His sons, Tommy and Jeff, have recently revealed that they are working on preserving their father’s musical legacy in digital form.

The singer and his wife, Karen, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past December.
