Blackhawks Make Dramatic Comeback, Then Lose

The Chicago Blackhawks and Anaheim Ducks are having one heck of a Stanley Cup conference final playoff series. In Game 5 on May 25th in Anaheim, the Ducks jumped off to a 3-0 lead in the first period. The Blackhawks held the Ducks scoreless in the second period while scoring two goals themselves to make it 3-2. Anaheim’s Patrick Maroon tipped one in at the 14:45 mark of the third period giving the Ducks a 4-2 lead.

Then Jonathan Toews scored for Chicago at the 18:10 mark, but Anaheim still had the lead at 4-3 with less than two minutes to go. Then, with just 38 seconds left, Toews scored again to tie it. The game went into overtime, the third such game in the series, both of which were eventually won by Chicago.

Not this time. Toews’ heroics went by the wayside as Anaheim’s Matt Beleskey scored just 45 minutes into overtime to win it and give the Ducks a 3-2 lead in the series. The stunned sighs of the Blackhawks fans were exceeded only by the joyous cheers of the Ducks fans.  While it makes for exciting hockey, constantly having to come from behind will catch up with a team especially at playoff time against good competition. Chicago will regroup and try to keep it alive in Game 6 on May 27th at the United Center. If they succeed, Game 7 of this memorable series will be in Anaheim on May 30th.

This just sets a better stage for the Blackhawks’ comeback! (Lol: at least I certainly hope)
They’d probably have them put away if it weren’t for these cursed three goal bursts!

Honestly, it’s games like this where people start to realize how outstanding of a hockey player Jonathan Toews really is!
