How does a senator get mixed up in a sleazy extortion plot?
We don’t know but Bahamian Senator Pleasant Bridgewater has resigned in the aftermath of her arrest for participating in a plot to extort millions of dollars from actor John Travolta after his 16 year old son, Jett, passed away.
According to a police statement on Bahamasweekly.com, the Senator was charged with “abetment to extort and conspiracy to extort. She was then freed on $40,000 bail while arrangements to formally arraign her next week were set in motion.
The Senator tendered her resignation while protesting her innocence. No one seems to have any details of the alleged extortion plot yet, except that it was for a huge amount of money, but we would expect the details to come out pretty soon, or at least during the Senator’s trial.
