There’s quite a bit of speculation today in the wake of the suicide of Marie Osmond’s adopted son, Michael, over whether he was really “clean and sober.” What difference does it make?
According to TMZ on the evening of Feb. 27, 2010, sources revealed to them that the L.A. Coroner’s Office may be conducting an autopsy on Marie Osmond’s son, Michael Blosil today (Sun Feb 28).
Given that there is still rife speculation on whether prescription medication was in some way to blame for Brittany Murphy’s death in December 2009, you can expect to see numerous headlines in the next few weeks about the autopsy results and speculation on whether drug or alcohol abuse was a factor (and if so, how big) in Michael Blosil’s decision to end his life.
The question really is what difference does it make? If drugs and/or alcohol are found in Michael Blosil’s system, will it make his death any less or more of a tragedy? No, it will not.
TMZ says: “All information is on a ‘security hold’ — which means they are giving very limited information from now on,” We’re sure that TMZ very well knows autopsy reports are public record, once the investigation into the death is completed. See Exhibit A, The Law in Plain English: “The official medical examiner’s autopsy report is a public record and is generally subject to disclosure under the state code unless the case is subject to an ongoing investigation, or another appropriate reason for denial of disclosure exists.” Therefore, when the investigation is closed, The ‘always first’ Smoking Gun just might add the report to its online collection, unless they would rather respect Marie Osmond’s feelings and privacy.
