Rather than put up two Lawdy Miss Clawdy performance (besides which they don’t seem to have a live performance by Lloyd Price on youtube), here’s just one of of our favorite songs by Lloyd Price. It’s hard to pick a favorite because besides his best known songs, we love “Where Were You” and “I’m Gonna Get Married” and well, actually there ain’t no Lloyd Price song we don’t like.
Does anybody know how many of the American Idol contestants have had the original artist they covered actually listen to their performance? We don’t either, but however many it is, Casey James just joined their ranks.
Lloyd Price Gives Casey James’ Cover of “Lawdy Miss Clawdy” Props: The American Idol Judges may not have given Casey James high marks for his rendition of Lawdy Miss Clawdy, but Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Lloyd Price wrote the song and he thinks Casey James has got it going on. (Source: AC)
It didn’t remind Lloyd Price of Elvis either though. It reminded him of Joe Cocker.

The judges may be lukewarm to it, but having the original artist like the performance has got to make Casey James feel good. And I detected a little Joe Cocker resemblence in his performance too.
