American Idol Top 12 Elimination: Getting Closer to the Top 10

So what were we saying last night about Emily Piriz landing in the bottom 3 but not being willing to put money on it? Too bad for us, because she was the first one to get sent to the dreaded stools, and she was also the one who got sent home. Looks like that “Let’s Get Loud” J-Lo song backfired on her. But at least she got appreciation from J-Lo herself. She’ll have that to remember.

We also thought that Alex Preston and MK Nobilette would be in the Bottom 3. We were right about MK but Alex was safe. Jena Irene was actually the second one informed of her sad position, but she was the first one to find out she was safe.

This was MK’s second time in the Bottom 3, and she really looked like she thought it was going to be her.

Emily performed “Stars” for a shot at the judges’ save. It was really pretty sad. A lot of people looked close to tears but Emily was a trooper about it for sure. Again, the judges talked to each other during her performance. We find that so rude and quite distracting. Of course, they are going to keep doing that but really, they should just write down yes or no, and if it’s not unanimous, so be it. At least give these performers your full attention during their last song.

Season 11 Idol Phillip Phillips and Irish band Kodaline provided the entertainment tonight. After Phillip performed, he seemed like he was totally out of breath while Ryan Seacrest did his best to plug the show, pointing out that Phillip is now on a first name basis with Bruce Springsteen and John Mayer and it all started on the Idol stage. But Phillip was just too winded to offer profuse thanks and could only smile and nod.

So now we’re down to the Top 11: Alex Preston, Ben Briley, Caleb Johnson, CJ Harris, Dexter Roberts, Jena Irene, Jessica Meuse, Majesty Rose, Malaya Watson, MK Nobilette and Sam Woolf.

Next Wednesday, March 12, the theme will be “Songs From the Cinema.”
