Ellen DeGeneres decision to depart American Idol after one season was swiftly followed by reports that Kara DioGuardi was canned. TMZ is reporting that Jennifer Lopez has already been signed to replace both of them, apparently, since their sources say the show will be going back to a 3-judge panel and Steven Tyler will be recruited to take Simon Cowell’s seat.
We’re not sorry to see Ellen go, or Kara either, for that matter. Neither of them added anything to the show that great to the show and if they seriously don’t want American Idol to fall by the wayside, it’s a smart decision to revamp the panel. Keeping Randy Jackson is cool, too. He’s always been the only one you could count on for a sincere opinion even if he does get carried away with certain phrases like pitchy and dawg.
Some people still insist upon lobbying to get Paula Abdul back but Paula without Simon? That won’t work, folks. Besides, people are sick to death of the cougar jokes. Casey James took the whole thing with Kara in stride as much as he could last season, but it was really gross so the last thing they need is Paula back slobbering over the male contestants.
We looked on JLo’s twitter and website, but no confirmation there yet. Maybe there was something to those Jessica Simpson rumors after all.
