America Idol Top 10: Elimination Night

This week, Jennifer Lopez rounded up some former Idol contestants to help her perform “I Luh Ya Papi,” namely Jessica Sanchez (S11 #2), Allison Iraheta (S8 #4) and Pia Toscano (S10 #9), and the song also has a rap segment featuring French Montana. Well, the remaining judges, the Top 10 and the audience seemed to like it a lot. Ryan Seacrest said “I luh it” several times after it was thankfully over. Seemed like J-Lo’s answer to Beyonce and Jay-Z to us, only J-Lo is just too old to be dancing like that, no matter how good her “hourglass” is.

Harry Connick Jr. supplied New Orleans group Royal Teeth, who performed “Wild.” We couldn’t quite catch the lyrics and song meaning, but they certainly got the audience jumping around, Keith Urban gave them a standing O. HCJ, who rarely gives anyone a standing O, stayed seated but look pleased as punch.

Once again, the voters only picked one different than we did. We had Dexter Roberts, MK Nobilette and CJ Harris as our Bottom 3. But the voters picked Dexter, MK and Majesty Rose.

It was Dexter’s first time, Majesty’s second and MK’s third, so if you were thinking three strikes and you’re out, you were right. MK sang “All of Me” while the audience hollered ‘save her’ to the judges, but really? Did anyone expect the judges to use the save on a singer they continually have been telling to work on stuff like stage presence and looking like you want be there? We’re not saying it to be mean. All the judges have reminded all the contestants more than once that they have to bring the wow. MK was just taking baby steps toward that charisma factor when she should have went with giant steps.

As for Majesty, well, we were surprised to see her land on the stools again and, at this rate, it does not look like she is going to make it to the Top 5.

So we are now down to the Top 9: Alex Preston, CJ Harris, Caleb Johnson, Dexter Roberts, Jena Irene, Jessica Meuse, Majesty Rose, Malaya Watson and Sam Woolf – 5 guys and 4 girls.

We’re thinking it’s gonna be a guy idol this year and we don’t mean Sam Woolf.
