All My Children Final Episode

ABC recently announced that the final episode of its long-running soap opera, “All My Children,” will air on Friday, September 23.  This marks the end of an era for fans of Erica Kane, who has been with the show since it premiered on January 5, 1970.

Although ABC announced the cancellation of both “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” in April 2011, the dates of the final episodes were not mentioned and a “Save Our Soaps” campaign began that just didn’t pan out. Even Oprah Winfrey could not come to the rescue.

In the coming months, many characters of “All My Children” are expected make return appearances, including Leo Du Pres (Josh Duhamel), Maria Santos (Eva La Rue) and Zach Slater (Thorsten Kaye).

Janet Green (Kate Collins), Marion Chandler (Jennifer Bassey) and Lily Montgomery (Leven Rambin) are also rumored to come back.

Even veteran actress, Carol Burnett who has played Verla Grubbs on and off since 1983, is expected to make an appearance. Maybe they will get Oprah back too.

After “All My Children” goes off the air, ABC will debut a new daytime lifestyle show called “The Chew” Monday, September 26.
