Alex Trebek Accepts Guinness World Record Award

Watch Alex Trebek accept his Guinness World Record award for hosting 6,829 episodes of Jeopardy! This video was shown on the June 13, 2014 episode of Jeopardy.

A thankful Trebek mentions that the record can, should and probably will be broken. Indeed, Trebek himself broke the record of Bob Barker, retired The Price is Right host.

Trebek predicted that Pat Sajak will be the one to break his, saying the Wheel of Fortune host is a lot younger than him. Sajak is 6 years younger than Trebek.

Well maybe not if Sajak keeps putting his peculiar sense of humor on display on twitter. Many found his “coming out” tweet in April offensive, where he said: “Damn the career consequences! I’m hereby proclaiming my heterosexuality!” Another controversial tweet came in May when he announced that he now believes “global warming alarmists are unpatriotic racists.” The next day he said “Sometimes it’s fun to poke a stick in a hornets’ nest just to hear the buzzing.” Last week he tweeted that he refuses to join “either Thought or Speech Police until they get some really cool uniforms,” and today he said “Let’s just make it official & set up Federal Humor Dept. to decide which things you can joke about & which you can’t.”

Trebek should do a hockey movie like Barker did Happy Gilmore.
