Aaron Judge Wins Home Run Derby

New York Yankees rookie sensation Aaron Judge lived up to expectations at the All Star Game’s Home Run Derby on July 10th. Judge beat Minnesota Twins third baseman Miguel Sano in the final round 11 homers to 10 to win the competition, but it wasn’t just the number of homers he hit (47 total in all rounds) it was the distance some of them traveled. Four of the blasts exceeded 500 feet.

The finals of the event were a matchup of big guys. Judge is 6’7” and 282 pounds. We can imagine NFL coaches salivating at the prospect of Judge as a pass rushing defensive end, with opposing quarterbacks getting passes batted back down at them. And Sano is no small guy either; he’s listed as 6’4” and 262 pounds. Judge leads the majors with 30 home runs so far, Sano has hit 21.
